SLEEP – VOCABULARY

Work in pairs and decide on the meaning of each of the expressions in bold.

1. The seating on the plane was a bit cramped and my leg went to sleep after about an hour.

2. We had to have our dog put to sleep: she was suffering too much.

3. Don’t decide now – go away and sleep on it and we’ll talk about it again tomorrow.

4. Yes, I failed the exam, but I’m not going to lose any sleep over it.

5. It’s about time the Council woke up to the fact that people in wheelchairs cannot walk up and down steps.

6. It was quite a change, moving from the busy capital city to a sleepy village of just 200 people.
