ALBERT EINSTEIN – cleft sentences

Student A must choose one of the two or three options given, making a cleft sentences beginning with IT WAS. Sudent B will tell him whether he / she is reight or not. For example:

Student A) It was in Austria that Albert Einstein was born.

Student B) No, you are wrong, it wasn’t in Austria; it was in Germany that he was born.

ALBERT EINSTEIN (A)

Albert Einstein was born in Liechtenstein / Germany / Austria, on March 14, 1879 / 1890 / 1900. He began his schooling in Düsseldorf / Berlin / Munich . Later, his family moved to Switzerland / Italy / Austria. In  1896 he entered the Swiss Federal Polytechnic School in Zurich / Bern / Geneva to be trained as a teacher in physics and mathematics. In 1999 / 1901 / 1905, the year he gained his diploma, he acquired Swiss citizenship and, as he was unable to find a teaching post, he started working as technical assistant in the Swiss Patent Office. In 1905 he obtained his Bachelor of Sciences degree/his doctor’s degree.
During his stay at the Patent Office, and in his spare time, he produced much of his remarkable work. He became a German citizen in 1914 and remained in Berlin / Bonn / Stuttgart  until 1933 when he renounced his citizenship for political reasons / for personal reasons and emigrated to England / New Zealand /America to take the position of Professor of Theoretical Physics at Yale / Princeton / Harvard. He became a United States citizen in 1940 / 1941 / 1944 and retired from his post in 1945.
After World War II, Einstein was a leading figure in the World Government Movement, he was offered the Presidency of the State of Israel / India / Austria, which he declined, and he collaborated with Dr. Chaim Weizmann in establishing the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
At the start of his scientific work, Einstein devised his special Quantum theory / Theory in gravitational physics / theory of relativity   in an attempt to reconcile the laws of mechanics with the laws of the electromagnetic field. He published it in 1920 / 1940 / 1950.  He received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1945 / 1939 / 1921 and died in New Jersey / Los Alamos / New York in 18 April 1955.
